Instructions, Part I. Select one of the following:

A. Create a Collage
  • 1. Go to a Creative Commons pool of images such as flickr Creative Commons: http://www.flickr.com/creativecommons/ [control-click to open in a new window or tab]
  • - or go to Flickr's Free Use Photos group
  • - or search using http://search.creativecommons.org
  • - or use your own digital photos! (No personal pictures, please.).
  • 2. Enter a topic of interest to search.
  • 3. Save the images you want to use in a folder on your hard drive (right-click/control-click to save the image).
  • 4. Use the tools in your selected graphics program (Photoshop Elements or Photoshop) to create a collage from four of the images. Final image size should be about 500 x 360 pixels.
  • 5. Save as yourlastnamega2.jpg
  • 6. Make certain the final image is less than 100K.
  • 7. Cite the source(s) for your images!

B. Create an Animated Gif

  1. Using Photoshop or PhotoShop Elements, create an animated GIF image.
  2. You should animate a word or an object. This can be a very simple animation.
  3. Save (or Export in Fireworks [use the Export Wizard!]) your image as yourlastnamega2.gif
  4. Cite the source(s) for your images!

C. Create a Banner for Your School or Workplace or Business
  • 1. Design a school (or workplace) banner that can be used on a web page.
  • Image size should be about 470 x 60 pixels.
  • 2. Design the school banner by using the school or company colors.
  • 3. Incorporate the school logo or mascot or the business logo in the banner.
  • 4. Make certain the final image is less than 100K.
  • 5. Save as yourlastnamega2.jpg
  • 6. Cite the source(s) for your images!

Instructions, Part II. Upload graphic and description

1. Write a brief description of the steps you followed to create the graphic.
2. Answer these questions explicitly:
  • a. What challenges did you encounter?
  • b. What new things did you learn?
3. Cite the source(s) for your images!

Post the results on a new wiki page entitled "ga2". Link to that new page from your home wiki page.

  • If you downloaded images from the Internet or acquired them elsewhere, cite the sources.
  • Be sure to use copyright-free and/or creative commons images.

This assignment is due as soon as possible and at the latest by midnight, Friday, August 28.
